Group Home.....GURU Album
(August 26th, 2010) Babygrande Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of Group Home’s “Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal” on September 28th. Honing their skills for over 20 years, Group Home is back to pay homage to their longtime friend and collaborator, the legendary Guru.
Group Home has unquestionably proven that they are one of the most important groups to come out of hip-hop’s revered “golden age.” Appearing on Gang Starr’s 1994 album “Hard To Earn,” Group Home released their critically acclaimed debut album “Livin’ Proof” in 1995. Now, Lil Dap has returned with partner Melachi The Nutcracker, enlisting the help of legendary hip-hop icons Jeru The Damaja, Lord Jamar (Brand Nubian) & more as well as some unreleased heat from former partner in rhyme Guru himself, to bring experience, perspective and their unique flavor to the game with their new album “G.U.R.U.”
Set for release on September 28th by Babygrande Records, Group Home’s “Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal” is a tribute to the movement that birthed hip-hop’s most celebrated emcees and a must-have for any true fan of hip-hop. (Babygrande)
I also get informed that the first single will be dropping on monday August 30th, the single is called “Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal (G.U.R.U)” and is featuring Jeru the Damaja. I’ve seen the cover somewhere but I lost it, ah well… Lets see what they can bring us!

OL SCHOOL WEDS Video----Keith Murray
Keith Murray is a rapper and a member of the rap trio Def Squad, which includes fellow rappers Redman and Erick Sermon. Before Murray ever recorded an album, he battled Big Daddy Kane. At that time, Murray went by the name of MC Do Damage. Murray did not win the battle, but he did earn the respect of Kane. Later, Murray would be introduced to Erick Sermon of EPMD by K-Solo. Sermon would feature Murray on his album No Pressure on the single "Hostile". Murray quickly established himself as one of the most creative lyricists in the industry with his first album The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World, released in 1994 on Jive Records. The title track from this album remains Murray's biggest solo hit. This album was given 4 mics by The Source.
Murray's second album Enigma was released in 1996 on Jive. It received similar ratings from critics, but it was not quite as commercially successful as the previous album. In 1998, The Def Squad covered "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang. They would later release their own album, El NiƱo. Murray's third album It's a Beautiful Thing was released in 1999 while he was in prison. Like the previous album, it received relatively good reviews, but it showed yet another drop in sales. Murray also appeared on the song "Home Alone" by R. Kelly. In 2001, Murray's return to the music industry was announced with a memorable verse on "Fatty Girl." This song was featured on The Good Life, a compilation of songs for Fubu.
While he was in prison, Murray began writing for his next solo album. Upon his release, he would leave Jive and sign with Def Jam. He's Keith Murray was released in 2003. Murray claims to have chosen this title because the album represents him, but many fans saw it as an obvious attempt at crossover success because of singles like "Candy Bar" featuring Patti Austin. The album also featured the single "Yeah, Yeah U Know It." This song has guest appearances from fellow Def Squad members Redman and Erick Sermon. Murray dedicated "Christina" to his sister. That same year, Murray was featured on the video game Def Jam Vendetta.
He released his fifth solo album Rap-Murr-Phobia on July 31, 2007. It debuted at number 52 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 13,000 copies in its first week.[1] The lead single is "Nobody Do It Better" featuring Tyrese & Junior.....Enjoy

OL SCHOOL WEDS Video----Illegal (YOHO's) Pick!
Illegal was a short-lived hip hop duo that was signed to Rowdy Records. The duo made its debut with the album, The Untold Truth, released in 1993, which became a minor success, peaking at #119 on the Billboard 200 and #19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Several tracks on the album, including its two singles, "Head or Gut" and "We Getz Busy," were diss songs directly aimed at rivals Kris Kross and Da Youngstas. The duo virtually disappeared from the public eye until 1995, when it teamed with Too Short on the song "Thangs Change," after which the group disbanded. Jamal Phillips would later release his debut solo album, Last Chance, No Breaks, in 1995 on Rowdy Records. Malik released one single for Rowdy Records titled "Malik Goes On," but his debut album was shelved. Malik worked with his cousin Snoop Dogg on Doggystyle, Warren G on Regulate...G Funk Era, and Tha Dogg Pound on Dogg Food and finally released his debut album in 2005, The Game Needs Me....Enjoy!

OL SCHOOL WEDS Video----Craig G (Juice Crew)
Craig G is known as one of the subordinate members of hip hop producer Marley Marl's Cold Chillin' Records group the Juice Crew.
Craig G's battles with MC Juice and Supernatural are highly regarded.
The first time Supernatural battled him, Craig G. won over the crowd. Using a line that revealed Supernatural's origin and referenced pop culture ("When you go back home to Indiana, get Mike Tyson out the slammer"), Craig G. delivered Supernatural the first major loss of his career as a freestyle battle rapper.
Supernatural later came back to rival Craig G. on Supernatural's birthday, the outcome of which was inconclusive due to the emotional degreadation of Craig G, who closed the battle. The story and performances were recorded in the documentary film "Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme" (Palm Pictures), which contains clips of the battle. It also shows clips of the legendary battle between Supernatural and MC Juice, one of the best freestylers ever broadcast on the Wake Up Show....Enjoy!!!

OL SCHOOL WEDS VIdeo-----Dana Dane
Dana Dane is a hip hop artist known for humorous lyrics (performed with a fake British accent) and for his fashion sense. He was born in the Walt Whitman housing project in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, in New York City, and began his career as part of the Kangol Crew with fellow emcee Slick Rick, to whom he sounded markedly similar, although Slick Rick's English lilt was actually genuine. His biggest hit in the United States was "Cinderfella Dana Dane", which peaked at #11 on Billboard magazine's R&B charts in 1987.[1] His debut album peaked at #46 on the Billboard album chart and was certified gold by the RIAA. After a long stint at the legendary Profile Records, where he was one of that label’s core artists, he recorded briefly for Rap-A-Lot Records, where he didn’t release anything, and at Madonna’s Maverick Records, where he released his last album to date in 1995.
Dane operated a clothing boutique in New York for several years in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is an on-air host for Sirius/XM Satellite Radio on its old school hip-hop channel BackSpin......Enjoy!

MADLIB MEDICINE SHOW #8: ADVANCED JAZZ
Madlib has always called himself a DJ first, producer second, with jazz music as his first love and inspiration. With that in mind you might say this is what he does best.
The title card of Madlib Medicine Show No. 8 reads: Imagine an 80-minute music history course talking place in a dusty, hazy studio with wall-to-wall jazz vinyl - records from the past 40 years – jazz, fusion, funky, obscure. This course will not be graded. There will be no lecture. Madlib’s at the turntable. Class is now in session.
