After an arduous winter, spring is finally upon us and with it the tradition of MLB’s Opening Day. To mark the annual celebration and its own 130 years in baseball, Hillerich & Bradsby’s Louisville Slugger recently partnered with eyewear maker Shwood to create an one-of-the-kind product line, the Louisville Slugger x Shwood Ash Wood Eyewear Collection.
Adhering Shwood’s eco-friendly guideline, each eyewear begins its life as an actual Louisville Slugger baseball bat. Handcrafted from Ash wood harvested from Upstate New York, each bat gone through the various baseball leagues worldwide before Shwood repurposed them into eyewear frames at its Portland, OR workshop.
Based on Shwood’s two most popular styles – the Canby and Haystack, each hand shaped and flame-tempered for strength. Comes with baseball-inspired pouch and a commemorative trading card as complements to the collection. There are also two Louisville Slugger x Shwood Select editions, each limited to 200 units and quipped with polarized lens, leather travel case, a display baseball bat burnished with both brands and handcrafted wooden display box in addition to the commemorative trading card. All four editions from the Louisville Slugger x Shwood collaboration are available now through Shwood’s online store.
