In the late 1970s, Kool Moe Dee met Special K, DJ Easy Lee, and LA Sunshine to form the influential old school hip hop group the Treacherous Three on Enjoy Records. It was with The Treacherous Three in 1981 that Kool Moe Dee performed his freestyle on-stage roast of old school party rapper Busy Bee Starski, a performance frequently cited as a pivotal moment in the development of the battle rap.[1] Kool Moe Dee attended Norman Thomas High School on 33rd and Park Avenue in New York City and was known as a quiet eccentric young man always holding a pen and a pad ready to write his rhymes. In 1981, they moved to Sugar Hill Records along with another Enjoy Records act Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The Treacherous Three became well known for their singles Feel the Heart Beat and Whip It. They were featured in the 1984 breakdance cult-movie Beat Street performing the song Xmas Rap with Doug E. Fresh but disbanded shortly afterwards.... Kool Moe Dee is perhaps most well known for his long running rivalry with fellow New York rapper LL Cool J. He, among other rappers such as MC Shan, claimed that LL had stolen their rap styles. He also felt that LL was disrespecting the reigning MCs at the time, himself, Melle Mel and Grandmaster Caz by proclaiming that he was the greatest without paying due respects to those who came before him. He challenged LL on his platinum selling album How Ya Like Me Now on the single of the same name. He also took a shot at LL by appearing on the album cover with a jeep in the background with the wheel crushing one of LL's trademark red Kangol hats. The feud continued on with both MCs proclaiming themselves the victor.....Enjoy!!! How Ya Like Me Now

Madlib Medicine Show #6: The Brain Wreck Show is a psych-prog-avante-freak-out-funk rock mix CD, the sixth installment of his Madlib's monthly music series for 2010.
Madlib’s been pegged as a “jazz guy” as far back as 2000 when he & Quasimoto released the song “Jazz Cats.” Declaring this as his first inspiration in music, he's continued to explore jazz years with his fictional jazz group Yesterdays New Quintet. Lately though, his inspiration has come from the rock side of the spectrum.
But, no matter how many jazz records are thrust at him by money-hungry record dealers, he most often – at least lately – gravitates to the late 60s to late 70s psych-prog-avante-freak-out-funk rock. From the Tropicalia of Brasil to the Krautrock of Germany to the fuzzy sonds of mid 70s Nigeria, the Beat Konducta’s rock tastes know no cultural bounds. Actually, we’re not sure if they know any bounds.
This – an introductory mix entitled The Brain Wreck Show (admission, he wrote on the CD master, “One Brainticket” – an homage to one of his favorite Krautrock bands) – should serve to give its listeners a delightfully freaky funked up experience into the rock side of Madlib’s collecting conscious. We’re glad you’re along for the ride.
Madlib Medicine Show is a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series through the year of 2010 on his own imprint, Madlib Invazion. Odd numbers will be original hip-hop, remix, beat tape and jazz productions; even numbers will be mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music....
Shoutout to steadybloggin on this one. From the files of “stop playin”, our favorite metal faced emcee has apparently teamed up with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. As the story goes:Baron Cohen was on the west coast in 2006,promoting Borat, and met Doom randomly. From there, the pair began a working relationship and dubbed themselves “MF Borat”.As further described on the site:
After finding some mutual interests, the two got together for an impromptu recording session, during which DOOM rapped a pre-existing verse over a beat Cohen had made in 2005 with Khazak producer Kulki Boolchek. Later in the year, the two got together once again, and Doom unloaded a couple more verses onto three more of Cohen’s beats, making for a four-song EP.
