BLACK SABBATH----Time To Die

The almighty Black Sabbath were allegedly group drugged (involuntarily) by drinking from a communal punchbowl in an Oslo hotel bar and taken to a subterranean laboratory (under a log cabin, obviously) embedded deep in the darkened layers of Norwegian forestry. This was where the extraction of their respective DNA took place, followed by a rinsing with various active chemicals of the most potent in mind-altering substances on the planet. The plan was to place this concoction into an organic microchip implant, thus ushering in a wave of death proof superhumans, but alas, technological resources were just too meager at the time.
Cut forward some decades to December 2012…perhaps the last week of any December, ever. After a series of set-backs and plenty of mind gouging epiphanies, I find no better time than 9pm on the 17th day of the month to make my attempt at interpreting the legendary Sabbath-DNA-meets-drugs-and-digital-age formula for world domination. I brought along my potna dem, Alex of Steady Bloggin’, to help host this venture as he has been one of the most active and forward-thinking purveyors of projects directly taking after DJ Screw‘s style of music play. I wanted to pay my respects by creating this mix primarily on turntable and mixer, to keep it as human as possible (as the featured musicians were also playing live – not quantized machinery).
Without anymore sleep-deprived banter spewed, PTP and Steady Bloggin’ are fucking delighted to present this collage of heavy metal sludge omnipotence with a Houston, Texas lean (no pun?). All we ask is that you enjoy this responsibly and watch out for those portals that may open up.

Hieroglyphics X Flud Watch

FLuD is proud to announce a very special collaboration with legendary Bay Area Hip Hop collective, Hieroglyphics, responsible for paving the way for independent Hip Hop worldwide while spawning solo careers from Del The Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Pep Love and Casual. It was Souls of Mischief that created the classic hit “From 93 Till Infinity” and the Hieroglyphics’ logo is one of the most recognized logos in hip hop history, featuring the ubiquitous third eye, invented by Del The Funky Homosapien. Available now for the Holiday Season, the limited edition watch showcases Hiero’s timeless third eye logo that is black, 44mm in size, water resistant to 3ATM, PVC bands, and packaged in a Polycarbonate case with additional logo hits.
If you’re still unfamiliar with the crew, FLuD sat down with individual members of Hiero for their “Meet The Crew” series. Pt. 1 focuses on Phesto, Del The Funky Homosapien and Tajai. Stay tuned for more episodes to come soon…

Masta Killa Shows Us That "Things Just Ain't The Same"

For the "Things Just Ain't The Same" music video, Masta Killa feels a bit nostalgic and takes a trip down memory lane. From Wallos to three-finger rings, Noodles ushers viewers through a era that is slowly bowing out. However, one thing is the same, and that's that the Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' to fuck with. Selling My Soul is out now!

CZARFACE (Inspectah Deck + 7L & Esoteric) – “Cement 3′s” (feat. Roc Marciano)

Throughout Deck’s career, whether it was beside his fellow Wu-Tang brethren or in a solo-capacity, he is as adamant today about his culture and pushing the creative envelope as he was before Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers became an epic masterpiece; hence the formation of CZARFACE, a new collaborative project with underground icons 7L & Esoteric. With rap fans again craving more substance and less polish, Deck realizes there is a tangible shift taking place- “The industry doesn’t need another well packaged, put together “act,” instead fans are once again gravitating to the seasoned vets and newcomers that are still true to the game.”
With a working history that dates back nearly as far as Wu-Tang’s, 7L & Esoteric are undisputedly Boston and underground hip-hop royalty. CZARFACE offered the duo an opportunity to pick up where they left off over a decade ago with Inspectah Deck, as he joined them on the title track to their revered Speaking Real Words EP (1999). Deck says “Speaking Real Words is one of the many reasons we are now CZARFACE. After doing that song, it was only right we collaborated on a project to cater to the millions of fans that still support hip-hop from the underground.”
With guest appearances from Ghostface, Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Roc Marciano, Vinnie Paz, Cappadonna & additional beats from DJ Premier & Oh No, you can expect nothing less then top notch production and rewind worthy lyricism from CZARFACE. “We are CZARFACE because they know our faces and they know us for being dope rhyme suppliers, like Tony Montana we are known for our balls and our word; lyrically we will conquer the world and everything in it” states Deck. Esoteric explains further, “CZARFACE is a vigilante, anti-hero character who serves as the face of the project, and his focus is on annihilating the media darlings that the mainstream caters to.”

The Weathermen MC'S -The Only Weathermen Song

Today, as MHz Legacy continues to celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album, they’re taking part in the tradition of Throwback Thursday with one of the rarest songs from their vaults, “The Only Weathermen Song.” The song, accompanied here by new, exclusive artwork, stands apart as a classic from the early 2000s era of hip-hop and marks one of the only times that Copywrite, El-P, Camu Tao, Tage Future, Cannibal Ox, Jakki Da Motamouth, and Yak Ballz (otherwise known as The Weathermen) were all in one studio at the same time.

Fresh Off The Boat With Eddie Huang: Taiwan (Part 3/3)

Strong Arm Steady & Oh No – “No Sky Limit (Smoke On Remix)” (feat. Dom Kennedy)

Oh No has remixed Strong Arm Steady’s album Stereotype, and we kept it a secret until the beat making, mixing and mastering were all complete and ready for release – today. This is available for now exclusively at Stones Throw and via Stones Throw’s digital subscription service – Stones Throw Digital Discography.

Stereotype was originally recorded late last year with Statik Selektah on the beats, 14 tracks total. Oh No’s flip of the album is a shorter album than the original – seven vocal tracks with some worthwhile Oh No interludes, 30 mins runtime, and the price is nice.
