DJ AM x Nike DUNK Hi...

Although there was some uncertainty regarding an actual release of his project with Nike, DJ AM’s Dunk Hi is now seen in its entirety, although unfortunately it comes after the famed DJ’s tragic and untimely passing. The shoes themselves remain quite simple, playing off a theme of patent leather and premium leather along with 3M perforated heel detailing amongst a black/red/grey color scheme. Rounding off the design is a tribute DJ AM logo placed on the tongue. Rumors have it that there should be another sneaker from the set due to drop although no further information has been released. For those interested, they are now available through Korean retailer Kasina, with a US release sure to come...

DEF JEF debut album was 1989's Just a Poet With a Soul, which won critical acclaim for sociopolitical lyrics and original beats. He was unable to live up to the expectations for his second album, however, and Soul Food, was a critical and commercial failure.

Additionally, he was a member of the West Coast Rap All-Stars, a collaboration of West Coast-based hip hop artists who released the anti-violence single We're All in the Same Gang in 1990.

Def Jef moved into production, working with Nas, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and Tupac Shakur, among others, as well as appearing in films like Deep Cover in 1992 (see 1992 in film). He was featured on Shaquille O'Neal's 1993 top 40 single "(I Know I Got) Skillz". He produced the theme song for the Disney Sitcom "That's So Raven" in 2002 and remixed Kimberley Locke's "Supawoman" in 2005.

Divine Styler first emerged as part of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate. His first LP, Word Power, was hailed by critics and fans, but was not a commercial success. His second album, the wildly experimental Spiral Walls Containing Autumns of Light, also failed to sell well. In 1998, Divine Styler hooked up with the Quannum Records crew, teaming up with his dear friend and fellow Rhyme Syndicate alumni Everlast, Styles of Beyond, and the Beat Junkies. The latter also appeared on his third LP, Wordpower, Vol. 2: Directrix (Featuring Exceed), which trafficked in information-age paranoia. Aside from those major albums his tracks are scattered among other artists' albums and projects. He has done several tracks with John Tejada but they're scattered on several compilations and albums by Tejada. He appeared (along with Sadat X and Cockni O'Dire) on several tracks on the final House of Pain album Truth Crushed to Earth Shall Rise Again. His most recent work has been with Len, Swollen Members, and DJ Shadow, as well as with guitarist, bassist, and emcee Gabe Rosales....Enjoy!!!

CONCEPTS x New Balence Freedom Collection..

Both Massachusetts based CONCEPTS and New Balance are partnering up to pay homage to one of Boston’s historic landmarks, The Freedom Trail, with an eponymous collaboration collection through the latter’s partnership program. The collaboration collection includes a reworked classic 1500 sneaker and a new model, the 875 boot. Taking inspiration from the red footpath and brown bricks that make up The Freedom Trail in the antiquated section of Boston’s North End, the kicks have the simple earthy palettes of brown leather upper with red accents.


The 875 boot will debut in The Freedom Trail Collection, which will be made available on Black Friday, November 27th, at Concepts. Other than insane deals on plasma TV and the usual gadget line-up, now here’s something interesting to mix the Black Friday madness up even more.
