Gensu Dean & Guilty Simpson – Ink Blotches

About a year ago, Gensu Dean began working on a project (“Abrasions”) with Planet Asia. At the same time, label-mate Apollo Brown began working with Guilty Simpson on a record (“Dice Game”). The two producers lamented the other working with Guilty and Asia, respectively. So, an idea hatched: the two decided to challenge each other and create new versions of the other’s respective projects. Apollo would take half of Gensu’s album vocals with Planet Asia and rework them into the vision he had, while Dean would do the same to Guilty Simpson’s verses. The result is one project with two sides: “Abrasions: Stitched Up” and “Dice Game: Shaken,” set for release on January 14, 2014. “Ink Blotches” and “God Hour” are the first two drops from the project.

Black Milk will team with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson to form Random Axe. While the album had been talked about the last year, it seemed like one of those things that would never manifest. That is, until Black Milk TwitPic’d the tracklist today, with the caption “Finally finish mastering “Random Axe” is done”.

Finally....Guilty Simpson's----Ghettodes

This past year, around the same time Madlib was creating his remix of Guilty Simpson's Ode to the Ghetto for his Madlib Medicine Show #1 release, we had Oh No remix the tracks as well, using samples from the Now-Again catalog. Oh No's collection Ghettodes is not meant as an album, but you put 14 tracks together and you might as well call it that.

Random Axe (Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, & Black Milk) signs to DUCKDOWN Records...

Hip Hop super group Random Axe has recently signed to independent label Duck Down Records.

Consisting of Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, and Sean Price, respectively, the trio has been featured on various tracks together throughout the last few years, with one of their more prominent records being “Run” off of Simpsons’ Ode to the Ghetto album.

Price, who is already signed to Duck Down and acts as a member of Heltah Skeltah and Boot Camp Clik, is seen in a new video clip stating, “The contract is done…It’s official, we’ve all signed.” Random Axe is expected to drop their album later this year.
