While on the subject of stadium/varsity jacket, our friends at ALIFE made available the ALIFE x Wu-Tang Clan outerwear in remembrance of the late Russell Tyrone Jones, best known as Ol’ Dirty Bastard or ODB. Perhaps the one member of Wu-Tang with the wildest exploits, including picking up his welfare check in a limousine (documented by a MTV crew), ODB also gained a loyal following soon after Wu-Tang’s debut release, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Known for a style uniquely to his own, ODB’s lyrical style of slurring and rambling made him a singularity, even in a 9-member ensemble of Wu-Tang Clan.
The jacket features large yellow embroidered “RIP ODP FOREVER” letterings on the back. A laurel around Wu-Tang Clan emblem, as well as the wording “Wu Classic Official Product of the Streets”, adorned the upper left front panel. The jacket body is composed of melton wool with premium leather sleeves. On the interior, a quilted, insulated lining plus a likeness of ODB’s first solo album art.
